Embracing the Power of Community and Self-Care in Entrepreneurship - A Live Podcast Panel at the #ShowUpJefa Experience 2023

A Conversation with Jefas Kita Zuleta, Raquel Nava, Elizabeth Sanchez, and Yvonne Armenta

In November 2023, we came together for something I had dreamed about for a long time—our first in-person gathering as Cafecito Con Jefas: the #ShowUpJefa Experience.

This wasn’t a conference. It wasn’t a party. It was something in between—a space designed for Jefas to feel safe, seen, and supported. A space where we could show up without competition, without pressure, and without pretense. Just us, in comunidad.

As part of the event, we hosted a live podcast panel featuring myself alongside powerhouse Jefas Raquel Nava, Elizabeth Sanchez, and Yvonne Armenta. Together, we opened up about the realities of entrepreneurship—community, self-care, creativity, and what it really looks like to pursue business holistically.

Some of the highlights from our conversation:

  • The role of community in entrepreneurship. We talked about how isolating this journey can feel, and how important it is to lean on one another, share resources, and create safe spaces to tell our stories.

  • Self-care as non-negotiable. From setting boundaries to saying no, we reminded ourselves that taking care of our physical and mental health isn’t optional—it’s what allows us to keep showing up for our businesses, families, and dreams.

  • Vulnerability as strength. We shared about the power of being seen in our struggles, not just our highlight reels, and how that kind of honesty creates deeper connections.

  • Representation matters. Whether it was public speaking, therapy, or leadership, we emphasized how much it matters to see Latinas stepping into these spaces and opening doors for others.

The #ShowUpJefa Experience was proof of what happens when we gather in real life. Jefas laughed together, cried together, and walked away not just inspired—but more connected.

For me, this event was a reminder that entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be lonely. When we prioritize community and self-care, we create the kind of support system that helps us all keep going.

This was only the beginning. And I can’t wait to keep creating more spaces where Jefas can show up fully and unapologetically themselves.

The #ShowUpJefa Experience was more than a party—it was proof of what’s possible when community comes together. And I want to bring it back.

Pero here’s the truth: I can’t even start planning until I hit my #30for30 goal—30% off my services for 30 Jefas. 7 spots are already claimed, 23 to go. 🙌🏽

For Jefas who are ready to invest in their business’s growth, take #imperfectaction + #showupjefa

Use code: 30FOR30 to save 30% on any of my brand strategy + photography services.

So I’m asking for your help—share this campaign. Tell your Jefa besties. Send them my way if they’re ready for more clarity, confidence + consistency in their brand and business. Every booking moves us closer to the next #ShowUpJefa Experience.

Because while sponsors + planning will come later, none of it happens without building the foundation first.

Gracias to everyone who’s been part of this vision these past 3 years—it’s only grown because of comunidad. Let’s keep building. 💃🏽
